How to Earn Money from Cricket Stadium/Ground Business

Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world (Fans: 2.5 billion) after Soccer (Fans: 3.5 billion). And cricket is often referred to as a religion in India. Making it as business is going to be one of the best options for the full time career. I know some people who left their job and earning more than any other job holder.

(above is the actual picture of an earning ground in noida(India))

How much can you earn with a cricket ground?

If you are able to organize 3-3 matches Saturdays and Sundays only you will earn around

150000/- to 200000 pm and people are earning more than that. And this earning is for weekends work only. But make sure you wont gonna get this amount on your first month. It takes lots of hard work, determination and patience to work that way.

As per the popularity of the this game in India in coming 5-10 years all the weekdays slot will also be booked. There is a huge scope and this is the right time to start this business. In future you can earn 5-10 lakhs per month if properly executed. Later we will discuss about the how much running cost we need to operate and how much you can earn per match.

Choosing a cricket stadium as a business career can be exciting and rewarding, especially if you're passionate about sports. Here are some key aspects to consider:

To start a cricket stadium you need to have a cricket ground and the stuff to run the cricket ground we will discuss it one by one. Lets start with the cricket ground first.

Both of Pros and Cons
You can have your cricket ground by

1. You can rent an an existence ground

2. You can make your own ground

1. Renting an existing cricket ground

Pros:-

· Save your time to make the ground

· People already know about the location

· You can start your business from day 1

· Less money required to start initially

Cons:-

· Owner will charge more so low revenue

· Owner was not generating the revenue for some reason (Location, Environment)

· Bad infrastructure

· If the ground fails you fails but if ground will get attention the owner will take it back after the contract is over

2. Making your own cricket ground

Pros:-

· Generate more revenue in long term

· Make your ground as you want (Infrastructure, Pitches etc.)

· Total control on the ground

· Ground will be as per your location and environment

Cons:-

· Will take about 3-4 months to make a functional ground

· Need more advertisement as your ground is new

· Need good amount of money initially to make a ground

Either you are making a new stadium(ground) or using an existing one make sure the ground should be near other cricket grounds already available in the area which makes it easy for your ground to run. Don't make your ground where no one goes.

As an example, I am taking the locality of Noida Band Road which have over more than 50 cricket grounds at around same location, and almost all are running on weekends. You have a very good chance to book your ground as all the main grounds are booked for the first slot and some teams always are in search for grounds.

So let us take the first option i.e. you are hiring an existing cricket ground. What you need to have to make it as a profitable business.

To hire the cricket ground, you have to take some points in mind

· Why you are getting the ground, is the ground is unpopular for some reason (Locality, balls lost, not safe for females,).

· How much money you are going to pay per month to the owner

· The location must be in the reach of the teams (Location must be easily accessible)

· The infrastructure is good enough to handle the teams (washroom, pitches, grass, boundaries, dugout)

We will discuss in details each Point

Why you are getting the ground, is the ground is unpopular for some reason

Owner of the ground is giving you the ground because he is not making money as he expected so before hiring the ground you need to check the reviews of the ground like google or communicating with the teams locally. You can check which online scoring app they were using and check how many matches were played at that ground in recent past. Is that place is safe for the teams. You can ask local teams why they are not playing in that ground anymore.

How much money you are going to pay per month to the owner

This is one of the most important aspects. You are doing this for the business not for charity. If you are not able to earn at-least 100000/pm it's better not to do it. It depends on your bargaining skills. If you get a good deal, it will save a lot of efforts, money and time. One of my friend hired a cricket ground in Noida paying 70k/pm and earning a handsome amount.

You can get the idea how much he is earning as he has given his cricket ground to a company for 3 days for tennis balls cricket matches. Around 20 matches has been played in these 3 days and the company paid him around 130000 for those 3 days. The scope is too much in it. I am talking about the same ground whose picture is showing above.

.

The location must be in the reach of the teams

This is also very important that the teams should reach the ground easily. Teams don’t go to the nearest ground from my location because the way to reach the ground is so messy. Taking a four-wheeler or even too wheeler is too risky. The ground is fine, but the way is so bad that we didn’t play their almost for the last couple of years.

The infrastructure is good enough to handle the teams

Teams refuses to go the ground where there are no proper washrooms or dugouts to sit for the team. By managing such small things can make a big difference in this business. Also, many teams complaints about the bad pitches and conditions of the ground. That might be the reason why you are getting a ready-made ground. Also, as I mentioned earlier the size of the ground also matters a lot. A Big Ground can be maintain the size by the rope boundaries, but you cannot do anything about small grounds. Teams do not play on small grounds and feels unfair for the matches, also You will lose many balls by players hitting the ball out of the ground which will make more addition running cost.

By considering the above facts you can prepare yourself in advance of having a profitable business

Now the other option, To make your own ground

If you are serious about this business and wants to make this business as your primary source of income or much more passionate about cricket, then you should make your own ground.

It needs lots of efforts and hard work to make a cricket ground but it all worth it. You will be the owner of the ground. All the revenue will be yours. But it takes some time to make it so you need to have patience in it.

To make a cricket ground you need lots of things which are mentioned below with approx. rough amount

· Leased land 500000-700000/- per year (If buying then it depends on the location)

· Grass cutting machine 70000/- (For rented ground also if owner is not providing)

· Roller 50000/- (For rented ground also if owner is not providing)

· Generator 50000/- (For rented ground also if owner is not providing)

· Grass 300000/-

· Submersible Boring 60000/-

· Bathroom 50000/-

· 2 Dugouts 60000/-

· 2 Side Screens 80000/-

· Boundary Ropes 15000/-

· Pipe 5 inches 5000/-

· Cricket Pitch 100000/-

· Black Clay 18000/-

· Store Room 15000/-

· Labor 100000/-

· Grass Rooting 30000/-

· Levelling 15000/-

· Computer Manza 15000/-

· Grounds man 20000/-

· Equipment 5000/-

· Depends on the ground location other charges 100000/-

· Cemented and cricket pitch nets

· Canteen

· First Aid Kit (Mandatory)

· Covers for Pitch (Mandatory)

You need Roughly around 2000000/- to make your own ground which you can recover about in a year if follow the below mentioned method.

Either taking Ground on rent or making your own ground you are the owner of the cricket ground.

Now we will discuss what will be the running cost and how much you can earn.

If you are going to run a cricket academy in your stadium then the umpire fees can be half to none by putting your good mature students as umpires or you are doing it by yourself.

Balls you can take much cheaper or costlier as you want. In my opinion provide best quality balls.

Trophies you can take as you want but order it in bulk by putting your ground name and contact number. It will work as advertisement for your ground

Mentioned are the cost of running of a cricket ground

· Umpires fees -1000 (Not exact amount)

· 3-4 balls per match (around 250 each)

(above picture is just for reference and not showing actual cost of the ball)

· Labor to maintain the ground- 10000-15000/- pm

· Electricity/Generator for night matches and to water the ground

· 2-3 Trophies per match (100-150 each)

· Water during drinks break

· Refreshments (optional)

These fees can be change as per the quality and availability of items.

It will make around 2000-2500 per match as a running cost plus your lease amount which may be cost around 1500-2000 per match, so it makes it total minimum of 3500/- per match

And if you are charging 5000/- per team you are gonna make around 6500/- per match.

And if you are able enough to organize 3-3 matches Saturdays and Sundays only you will earn around

156000/- pm and people are earning more than that. But make sure you won't going to get this amount on your first month. It takes lots of hard work, determination and patience to work that way. You have to focus the service quality to your customers. Once they will be happy, they will come to you only (like a restaurant).

And when you start earning more you can invest on lights for night matches. The scope of night matches is also increased recently. The advantages of night matches are that you can have matches in hot summer conditions. The office going players also use to play night matches/tournaments. Night matches also generate high revenue. If you are interested, then make sure to comment so that I can make a new blog regarding night matches and how much investment will be involve in it in detail.

There are some tricks and techniques how you can attract teams to your ground

· Give offers to the teams to play in your new ground like 50% discount on first tournament

· Provide some additional services on as other grounds not giving like professional video recordings

· Give some refreshments free like tea or snacks for limited period of time

· Good infrastructure always attract teams like dug outs, make them clean or try to make it as professional as you can.

· Bring some local celebrities like some ranji players or any celebrity to boost your advertisements

· Social Media is one of the best way to get attention. Put some positive and good reviews on google maps

· Make a visit of an influencer it will give more credibility to your ground

· Put paddings on the boundary ropes. It looks feel like international cricket ground

· Organize Cricket Tournaments with lots of prizes

· Find some sponsors for corporate tournaments

· Contact companies to join the corporate tournaments

· Start a Cricket Academy (best to hire a coach who is professional like any past Ranji player)

 · Contact nearby schools. Give discounts and offers on coaching and take some students as free to coach

 · Make your team and enter some open tournaments

You can use more strategies, it totally depends on you how much effort you can put on your business. Meanwhile we have to take in our mind that this business has some Off Seasons like monsoon and extreme summer. So, some of your matches will be washed out in rain or with some other natural calamity.

This work needs lots of efforts physically and financially so it's better to start with some partner but owning this business single handedly is also not impossible.
